Winter Activities
- Backcountry Skiing:
Corralco features several types of tracks, designed for ski experts, and gentle slopes for those who are just beginning to practice the white sport. All tracks are surrounded by Araucarias forests, which allow you to be in direct contact with nature while you have a nice work-out down the hill.
You can choose to ski with a qualified guide, who can give you any type of information you need on the sport, the centre and the place you are skiing and/or snowboarding, such as the flora and fauna that lives in the area. - Ecotrack rides:
Ecotrack is a carterpillar track minibus that takes people to different places in the mountain, with almost no environmental impact.
All rides are constructed so visitors can get to know in the most comfortable and interesting way, all the surroundings in the Malalcahuello National Reserve, where the Navidad Crater stands out. Visitors can discover the most amazing views and sceneries of Chilean and Argentinean volcanoes in the area, getting to see beyond the Ralco Lagoon.
After a day exploring and discovering places, you can enjoy a drink or spend the rest of the say skiing down the hill, descending the tracks all the way to the lodge. - Racket Walks:
For those who enjoy taking long walks, doing so using snow rackets is an easy proposal for anybody who wants to be in direct contact with nature, going places you cannot access with skis and enjoying the environment as a whole. The circuit, which has been prepared by qualified guides, takes you to vast and spacious paths in the Malalcahuello National Reserve, which has over 13.500 hectares of typical flora and fauna.
If you already know how to walk with snow rackets, the challenge becomes walking by the Lonquimay volcano, maybe even getting to the crater which is over 800 meters long and completely covered in snow.
Racket walks is a fun activity, especially if you like to take photographs of different sceneries. The unique beauty of this place and the contrast of colours in winter time, make the perfect subject of your photographs and videos.
If you do not have your own ski rackets, do not worry. At Corralco, you will be able to rent some quality rackets, which will allow you to enjoy a very nice walk. - Randoneé:
In the largest ski area in South America, you can find virgin ground in which to practice Randonneé. This sport is practiced by the Lonquimay volcano in the spring, and it's not strange to find tracks of skiers who made the same trip between November and December.
Randonneé skiing allows people to access places only Andinists were able to get to before.While you access these virgin places, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Araucania, which includes volcanoes and Araucaria forests. A truly amazing experience you cannot pass when you visit Southern Chile. - Snowshoeing in Sierra Colorada:
From the hotel, a fun four hour walk to the Araucaria forests is done, where you can also learn about the flora and fauna of the Malalcahuello National Reserve. - Snowshoeing in Salto El Colorado (Fall):
There is another walk that begins at the Hotel Valle Corralco to the Araucaria forest and Pehuenco lagoon. The walk ends at the Estero La Plancha. - Snowmobiling in the Lonquimay Volcano:
You can get to know the ski center on fun snowmobile rides on a low difficulty passage that lasts about seven hours. - Hiking in Salto El Colorado (Fall):
It runs from Hotel Valley Corralco to Fundo La Estrella, through the forests of the Malalcahuello National Reserve and reaches the Colorado River and the fall of the same name. - Randonée Ascension in the Lonquimay Volcano:
You reach the summit of the volcano Lonquimay and from there you descend into a freeride to the Hotel Valle Corralco using randonée equipment. - Randonée Crater Navidad:
In this three-hour tour you get to the Navidad crater using randonée equipment.

Lonquimay Volcano ascent

Climbing the Lonquimay volcano:
This adventure will allow you to reach the summit of the Lonquimay Volcano to its highest point of 2,865 meters above sea level and see an unforgettable view of the surrounding landscape. The duration of this tour is approximately three and a half hours. -
Hiking Trail Sierra El Coloradito:
It is located southwest of the Hotel Valle Corralco. It has a beautiful trail surrounded by Araucarias that live in the Malalcahuello National Reserve. The difficulty of this hike is half and includes snack. -
Hiking Laguna Pehuenco:
It lies to the south of Valle Corralco (Corralco Valley). Following this you will be able to see ancient Araucaria forests and find the Pehuenco Lagoon to then continue to the estuary La Plancha. This hike includes a snack with three cheeses, a glass of wine or beverage, mineral water and nuts. -
Hiking in La Plancha Hill:
It is located next to Cautin Hill in Pehuenche Valley which can be seen from the altitude as well as the beginning of the Cautin River. It includes a snack. -
Kayaking on the Cautín River:
It is a journey down the river where you can see the wonderful scenery of the Malalcahuello Reserve. -
Sports Fishing:
In Corralco you can practice sports fishing. The guides of the ski center will guide the adventurers to the best places to practice this sport around the area such as the Cautin River. -
Horseback riding in Malalcahuello:
In this horse riding trip you will find the Cautin Valley and the town of Malalcahuello. The duration is one hour. -
Mountain Biking on the Cautín-Caracoles Route:
This trip allows you to see the path of the Cautin River from Malalcahuello to the Piedra Cortada, arriving to the Valle Piedra Santa sector. From there you can appreciate the Lonquimay volcano. -
Horseback riding in Entre Ríos:
This tour lasts 4 hours, crossing the Valley Caracoles between forests and waterways that give origin to the Cautin River. -
Conguillío National Park:
This tour starts from the hotel towards Caracautin in a van, to later transport to the Conguillío National Park where you can enjoy a wonderful landscape of trails, native forests and lakes. It includes a snack table of cheeses, nuts, muffins and brownies, chicken wraps and vegetables, mineral water, wine, soft drinks and isotonic drinks. -
Hiking in Ruta Historica (Historic Route):
On this tour you take a trip through the old train lines of the Araucania Train, passing through the stations and emblematic houses, as well as the Salto La Princesa (La Princesa Fall). The walk ends at the home of Mrs. Margarita, serving the rich Chilean cuisine in its clay oven. -
Hiking in Laguna Blanca (Blanca Lagoon):
This seven hour tour through this trail takes you around the skirts of the Lonquimay Volcano bordering along the two millenary scoriae to Laguna Blanca (Blanca Lagoon), formed by volcanic activity form theTolhuaca and Lonquimay Volcanoes. -
Photographic Route Barbecho del Diablo (Devil's Path):
It is located on the north side of the Lonquimay Volcano next to the Navidad Crater, where a beautiful panoramic viewpoint is found and allows you to observe the volcano Tolhuaca and Lonquimay Volcanoes. -
Photographic Route Cordillera Las Raices (Mountain Range):
The route is taken towards the path Las Raices, towards Lonquimay, in a trip that allows you to see wonderful valleys and the Cordillera de la Araucanía Andina, with its ancient forests and beautiful panoramic viewpoints. -
Photographic Route La Fusta:
Following the Lonquimay road through the tunnel Las Raices you find the La Fusta slope, with direction to Melipeuco. Following this trip you can see beautiful places like Lake Galletué, the border crossing path Icalma, the Pehuenche Community, the Araucaria Cemetery, among others. -
Mountain Biking in Laguna Escorial:
This tour lasts four hours, and you travel through the public road Lolco by Mocho, until you get to the Navidad Crater. From there you can see the beautiful scenery in its surroundings. -
Hiking on the Navidad Crater:
Through the western slope of the Lonquimay Volcano we can find the Navidad Crater, where you can see the passage of ash and lava from the last eruption of the massif. -
Hiking in Fundo La Estrella:
It is performed in the Fundo La Estrella through old logging roads to reach the La Estrella Waterfall, where you can enjoy a delicious snack. -
Hiking Trails in Sierra El Coloradito:
It is located southwest of the Hotel Valle Corralco. It has a beautiful road surrounded by Araucarias that are found in the Malalcahuello National Reserve. The difficulty of this trek is half and includes a snack. -
Hiking in Laguna Pehuenco:
It lies to the south of Valle Corralco. Following this route you can find an ancient Araucaria forest and find the Laguna Pehuenco (Pehuenco Lake) then continue to the estuary La Plancha. It includes a snack with three cheeses, glass of wine or soft drink, mineral water and nuts. -
Hiking in Cerro La Plancha:
It is located next to the Cautin Hill in the Pehuenche Valley which can be seen from the the high altitude at the start of Cautin River. It includes a snack. -
Kayaking in the Soldering Iron River:
It is a trip down the river where you can see the wonderful scenery of the Malalcahuello Reserve.
