FIND YOUR SKI RESORT:

Cerro Mirador Ski Center

Located 8 km (5 mi) to the west of Punta Arenas city, inside Magallanes National Reserve, in the Fenton hill, known as Mirador hill. The ski season is from June to September.

This place shows you one of the few ski slopes looking to the sea and a wonderful view of Punta Arenas city. This sport and recreational center has its higher point at 600 mts. (1,970 ft) and it is also an excellent site-seeing spot for the Magallanes strait and Tierra del Fuego.

For coming to its base is necessary to take 30 minutes approximately by vehicle, from Muñoz Gomero square, the main square in Punta Arenas. There are local buses that do this service on weekends.

You can choose from 11 ski slopes to slide; there are slopes for all kind of levels and in its mayor part are of medium difficulty.

It has a double chair lift with 1,500 mts (4,900 ft) and a ski lift. The refuge offers ski rental, sledges, work shop, wardrobe and lockers, ski school with specialized instructors and patrol for your security. For those who do not practice this sport, we recommend to visit Mirador hill and enjoy the wonderful view of the Magallanes strait, Tierra del Fuego and the southest city of the continent.

Snow Characteristics

The show has a special shape due to the wind effects, which gave it an attractive and singular characteristic to the ski and snow practice. The slopes are narrow and they are marks among the trees increasing in this way the difficulty level for the skier. It takes almost 10 minutes for reaching the top of the hill and only 3 minutes for coming back to the refuge.
